Drive In and Dolly Madison

We went to the Drive In with the Miles a few weeks ago and had a blast. We were seriously giddy as little girls.  The kids were awesome. Charlie fell asleep during the first movie and Teegan and Camdyn fell asleep after it. The atmosphere was just so fun. Before the movie started kids were out in field playing catch, and there’s a playground for the little kids. It is a great place for families. We want to go back pretty much every weekend. (Check out the Miles blog for more photos. You can always depend on Britt to get great photos!)

We visited Montpellier, home of James and Dolly Madison. It was a perfect day, sun shining, but not too hot.  I didn't realize that it was all so recently restored. The home was completed in 2008. Their home is situated in a gorgeous part of Virginia. So lush and green, and open. That Dolly was quite the lady. Some people say if it weren’t for her, James may not have been elected President. Dolly made the fashion of empire waisted dresses popular here. Some people thought it was scandalous and made women look like “nursing mothers”. Oh Dolly.
