My wonderful parents have been called to serve a mission for our church for 3 years. They are headed to Anchorage, ALAKSA! It was quite a shock, but we are all thrilled. We've all been researching Alaska, and found out the average high for the summer is a whopping 65 degrees! And during the winter there is an average of 3 hours of sunlight. There is one area where the sun goes down mid November and won't rise again until January. Crazy!

My parents just got their assignment on Friday night (while they were visiting us!) It was exciting being with them when they found out. We had 2 cell phones going, skype, (and 2 emails to my 2 missionary siblings) to get just our immediate family "all together" for this momentous occasion. My brother was on a date when we found out my parents call was just sitting on their front porch. So my brother and date had to drive to my parents. The date was sworn to secrecy and my brother opened it for them. Now the secret can be out in the open! (Finally)

That's awesome! Congrats to your parents! My grandparents were mission presidents of the Anchorage mission years and years ago. It's a cool place.
